Practice on Your Terms

Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of www.practiceonyourterms.com and your registration for any Practice on Your Terms Summit; by using the site or registering, you agree to them.

1. Introduction and Acceptance

This website is operated by Practice on Your Terms, LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company ("PYOT," "we," "us"). By accessing the site, submitting a registration, or paying a fee, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site or register for a Summit.

In these Terms:

  • Summit means a two-day, in-person educational event presented by PYOT, limited to 30 attendees.
  • Attendee means a person who has registered for and paid for a Summit.
  • Materials means all agendas, workbooks, templates, scripts, slides, case studies, and other content we provide, in any form.
  • Services means the website, the Summit, and any related communications or resources.

2. Registration, Pricing, and Payment

Registration is complete only when we receive full payment and send a written confirmation. Seats are limited to 30 per Summit and are filled in the order that payment is received. When a Summit is full, you may join a waitlist, which does not guarantee a seat.

The Summit fee is $5,000 per Attendee. The fee is a one-time charge. There is no membership, subscription, or recurring billing.

The fee includes attendance at both days of the Summit, the Materials, and the meals and refreshments we list for that event. It does not include hotel rooms, travel, parking, or any item not listed on the registration page. Attendees are responsible for their own lodging; PYOT may arrange a hotel room block, but you book and pay for your own room.

Payments are processed by [payment processor]. All prices are in U.S. dollars. You are responsible for any taxes that apply. If a payment is declined or reversed, we may release your seat.

3. Cancellation, Refunds, and Transfers

These terms are placeholders. Replace the bracketed figures with the policy you decide on.

  • Cancellation by you, [60] or more days before the Summit: refund of the fee, less a [$250] administrative fee.
  • Cancellation by you, [30 to 59] days before: refund of [50%] of the fee.
  • Cancellation by you, fewer than [30] days before, or no-show: no refund.
  • Transfers: you may transfer your seat to another eligible attorney, or to a later Summit, with written notice at least [14] days before the event.

If we cancel a Summit, we will refund the fee in full or move your registration to another Summit date, at your choice. If we must reschedule because of weather, illness, venue problems, or events outside our control, we will offer a transfer or a full refund. Our liability for a cancelled or rescheduled Summit is limited to the fee you paid; we are not responsible for non-refundable travel, lodging, or other costs you incur.

Refund requests must be sent in writing to practiceonyourterms.com. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within [30] days.

4. Attendee Conduct, Venue, and Travel

The Summit is a small, peer-based setting built on trust. Attendees agree to:

  • Treat presenters, staff, venue personnel, and other Attendees with courtesy and respect.
  • Keep confidential any client case details, personal stories, and business information that other Attendees share during the Summit.
  • Follow venue rules and applicable law.

We may remove an Attendee whose behavior is disruptive, harassing, or unsafe, without refund. Summit content is open to attorneys, law school graduates preparing to practice, and other persons we approve in writing. We may decline or cancel a registration at our discretion and will refund the fee if we do so before the Summit.

Summits are held at third-party venues, which may include hotels. You are responsible for your own travel, hotel, meals outside the program, and personal belongings. We are not responsible for loss, theft, or injury at a venue beyond what applicable law requires. Agenda, speakers, times, and venue may change; we will notify registered Attendees of material changes.

5. No Legal or Business Advice; No Guaranteed Results

The Summit, the Materials, and this website are educational. They are not legal, tax, financial, or accounting advice, and they do not create an attorney-client relationship between you and PYOT, its owners, or its presenters. Presenters may refer to their own practices and experience. Laws, ethics rules, and bar requirements differ by state, and you are solely responsible for confirming that any practice, marketing, fee, or technology approach complies with the rules that apply to you, including your state's rules of professional conduct and advertising rules.

Any figures, hours, or income examples we share, including goals such as working fewer hours or earning more, reflect the experience of the presenters or the examples discussed. They are not promises or guarantees of results for you. Your results depend on your market, your effort, your implementation, and many factors we do not control. We teach the systems; you decide whether and how to implement them.

Case walkthroughs use anonymized client information and are shared for teaching only. Third-party products, software, and vendors mentioned at the Summit are not endorsed or warranted by PYOT, and we are not responsible for their performance.

6. Intellectual Property, Materials, and Recording

PYOT owns or licenses the website content, the Materials, our name, and our logos. We grant each Attendee a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Materials in their own law practice. You may adapt templates and scripts for your own clients and seminars. You may not resell, republish, share with non-Attendees, or use the Materials to create a competing course, program, or training product.

Attendees may not audio-record, video-record, or live-stream any Summit session without our written permission. We may photograph or record the Summit for promotional and educational use. By attending, you consent to the use of your image and voice in those recordings unless you tell us in writing before the event that you opt out. We will not use client information shared in confidence for marketing.

If you send us testimonials, reviews, or feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use them, with your name and practice name only if you approve.

7. Website Use, Privacy, Communications, and Referrals

Website use. You may use the site for lawful purposes only. You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access, interfere with the site, copy its content for commercial use, or submit false information. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience, and we do not control or endorse them.

Privacy. How we collect and use personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

Communications. When you register or join our email list, you agree that we may send you event information, receipts, and updates about PYOT. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link, and you may opt out at any time. Transactional messages about a registration you made may still be sent.

Referral program. [If adopted: Past Attendees who refer a new Attendee may receive a discount or credit of [amount or description], applied after the referred person's payment clears. Referral rewards have no cash value, cannot be combined with other offers unless we say so, may not be earned by referring yourself, and may be changed or ended at any time.]

8. Liability, Indemnity, Governing Law, and Contact

Disclaimer. The website, the Summit, and the Materials are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, PYOT, its owners, presenters, and their family members who assist at events are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Summit that the claim concerns.

Indemnity. You agree to defend and hold PYOT and its owners harmless from claims arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Materials, or your professional practice.

Governing law and disputes. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. [Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Dane County, Wisconsin / by binding arbitration in [county], Wisconsin. Choose one.]

Changes. We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on the site when you register governs your registration, and continued use of the site means you accept later updates.

Severability. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
